This rare Trichocereus pachanoi monstrose crested cutting is a truly extraordinary collector’s specimen, combining the natural beauty of San Pedro with an unusual combination of monstrose and crested growth. Rather than developing in the regular columnar form associated with Trichocereus pachanoi, this plant produces heavily distorted, convoluted growth with multiple irregular sections that twist, fold and merge into one another.
Its surface is covered in fascinating clusters of rounded, knobbly growth, creating an almost coral-like appearance. The unusual combination of crested ridges and monstrose growth gives the plant an exceptionally sculptural form, with each section developing its own unique shape and character. Small areoles and delicate spines remain visible across the vivid green surface, adding further detail to an already remarkable specimen.
The growth habit of this particular plant is especially impressive, forming a complex mass of intertwined crests, protrusions and distorted columns. From different angles, completely different shapes and patterns emerge, making it the kind of specimen that invites close inspection and is almost impossible to mistake for a conventional San Pedro cactus.
For collectors of unusual Trichocereus genetics, monstrose forms and crested cacti, this is a particularly striking example. As with all monstrose and crested plants, its continued growth is naturally unpredictable, meaning that the specimen can develop new and unexpected forms over time, making it a genuinely individual collector’s plant.
